Judges’ comments: “A great wee book to introduce young arrivals to New Zealand. Minky’s illustration have a simple, graphical quality, and are given added depth through the use of painterly mark making and found textures. The curvy placement of the text accentuates the sing along quality of it.
“The illustrations and type work well together.”
“Integrated, age appropriate illustrations and font selection, however, not convinced about the use of the kiwi/koru ‘K’ throughout.”
“Good production values and strong illustrations. The book’s design — which contains a CD not listened to for judging purposes — has a sing songy rhythm all of its own throughout. The hand rendered style typeface flows alongside the illustrations to provide a book full of optimistic and up beat notes.”
