Judges’ Comments: Plenty of skill is required to design and set a book with this much typographic content, let alone also navigating unfamiliar conventions around a second language. Tears of Rangi does this beautifully and elegantly. All the myriad typographic detail set an intuitive hierarchy creating a seamless reading experience in a text full of unfamiliar words. The choice of typeface lends the book its warmth and historical character making for a fine piece of typographic design.
