Judges’ comments Evocative and packed with multiple meanings and double entendre. It looks sharp and unpredictable, medusa-esque, standing out on bookshop shelves. The cover acts as a murky piece of art, a roughness to the letterforms of both the title and author shouldering double duty as pictorial and informing. There’s something powerfully unassuming about the design and like the poems, it exudes an uneasy grace.
