“This collection is a sort of third chapter in the Chris Tse trilogy. The first two book covers had two elements (type and surface/image), whereas now we had scope to bring in some texture, to look more murky, but also clean. Chris was drawn to collage and glitch art aesthetics, but wanted something with structure or repetition, following the logic of destruction / reconstruction explored in the text. The internals also needed to accommodate the complex layouts of the poetry, presenting each element in a structured yet playful manner.”
Judges’ comments Digital interference, perspective, dimension, printing errors, screen-printing, billboards, stuttering photocopiers. This book marries edgy contemporary typography and design with concrete poetry and other highly visual approaches to text on the page.
